Tips on making smoothies
There’s a lot to love about smoothies. They’re tasty, portable, and they’re a good way to help you have fruit and vegetables in your diet. But they aren’t necessarily good for you and often have more calories and sugars than you think. Smoothies from chains or the supermarket may be fast and convenient, but they can be packed with excess calories, fat, and sugars. The American Heart Association recommends that women have no more than 24 grams (6 teaspoons) of added sugars per day and men no more than 36 (9 teaspoons).
For this reason, we recommend you blend the smoothie yourself. This way you know exactly what you put in it.
Many of us have trouble incorporating a variety of vegetables into our daily diet, but if you sneak them into smoothies, it can help with your vegetable intake. You can also get that smooth creamy texture by adding apples, avocado, bananas, Greek yogurt, Chia seeds and Flax seeds to your smoothies.
Give this smoothie recipe without any added sugars a try . We promise it wont disappoint!
In your blender add:
¼ cup of oats
1 tablespoon of chia seeds
